Bariloche

I´m on a mission to catch up today so here´s some more pictures...

We did a 50K bikeride which isn´t so far but in the heat and going up and down hills was pretty tough. Was alot of fun though, we caught up with some guys from the hostel, Ricardo and Ivan from Buenos Aires, so rode with them;

Clear water

We found a nice little area to have lunch and chilled for an hour or so.

Sam and Ricardo went for a swim; the water is sooo cold, it comes straight from the melted snow on the mountains into the lakes. I didn´t follow them in the water.

My idea of a quick dip. Sam says my feet are gross. I agree

Sam posing

Random water fall

We then went camping by the lake somewhere with a tent given to us by a Swiss couple in Buenoa Aires. It had broken poles but we fixed it which was very satisfying. Good tent. We also managed to fry up two amazing steaks on our first night on a fire we made. I was worried I would go a week without steak.

We went for a smaller walk up a mountain which was nice as it went through alot of woods

Xmas and New Year

Hola all,
A long time since the last post again... I blame it on not finding a good computer...
Christmas day was odd, decorations and trees in the middle of summer just didn´t quite fit. I can´t remember what I had for dinner on the day but it probably involved beef. Sam and I went to the park also,

Bored with Buenos Aires so we booked a bus to Bariloche in Patagonia. 20 hours on the bus but it was luxory, better than business class on an aeroplane.
Change in scenary from Buenos Aires to Bariloche; flat, flat, flat, mountains,

Sam - "we should go up the mountain for new years"

Keir - "hmm, ok..."
So we borrowed a tent, one sleeping bag and a blanket and went off to walk up a mountain... Missed the bus so had to hitch,

Huge evil flies drove me crazy on the way up, they couldn´t be killed,

We met some Italians at the top who informed us we had gone the wrong way. The only way to get to the campsite was to walk around the back of the mountain. Another 3 hours on a 4-5 hour walk... They also mentioned it was quite a tricky walk. Sam and I started this walk but after 30 mins I realized why 2 out of the 3 Italians didn´t advise us to do it. I don´t really get vertigo but had it real bad on the back of that mountain. We did more climbing than walking and a slip would have sent you straight to the bottom. We turned around. Sam took pictures while there, but I couldn´t even get the camera out of my pocket... I´ll get them off him at some point. We set up camp on the side of the mountain by a stream. This is the warning sign we didn´t read at the top,

It was very cold so had to put on all the clothes I had with me.

The italians kindly lent us their gas cooker as they were walking down when we met them so we had boiled eggs and carrots I think for dinner and then drank some wine. I think they though we were going to die up there. Was definitely a different new years...

The views were great at the top though!
